Fullstack Engineer

About the role

About Frontrun Frontrun is an onchain trading platform with 70k+ users. We bring wallet and X/Twitter intelligence, account and token history, and fast trade execution directly into the X pages and trading terminals our users already use, across Solana and EVM ecosystems. We have been operating for over a year and are profitable with strong growth. We are a small, globally distributed team serving users across time zones. In a team our size, you will not be confined to a narrow layer: your code will reach production, and you will see its impact on real users and real trades. ### About the Role We are hiring a mid-level/senior full-stack engineer in North America timezone to strengthen our trading systems and on-call coverage. This is not a low-intensity maintenance role. Our users trade 24/7, while markets, blockchains, and third-party platforms change quickly. Production issues require calm, fast, and accountable responses. You should be able to take a feature from the frontend through backend services, data systems, and the trading path—and remain accountable for its performance, reliability, and observability after launch. ### What You’ll Do - Design, build, and ship features end to end across our frontend, APIs, backend services, data stores, and trading workflows. - Build and optimize low-latency, highly reliable trading systems, improving critical-path latency, execution success, fault isolation, and graceful degradation. - Participate in the North America on-call rotation: assess impact, mitigate quickly, restore service, communicate clearly, and drive root-cause analysis and follow-up work to completion. - Improve observability across critical paths with metrics, logs, traces, alerts, dashboards, and runbooks so we detect and act on failures before users report them. - Solve real distributed-systems problems involving concurrency, queues, caching, databases, timeouts, retries, idempotency, third-party dependencies, and cross-chain differences. - Work directly with product, design, and other engineers to turn ambiguous requirements into shippable, testable, and maintainable solutions. - Raise delivery quality through automated testing, code review, and production validation, with particular care around changes that can affect user funds. - Fix the immediate incident while also removing recurring failure modes and manual work, steadily reducing the on-call burden. ### You’ll Thrive Here If - You want to own complete problems, not just implement pre-sliced tickets. - You enjoy taking systems from “it works” to “it stays reliable under real pressure.” - You are comfortable with a fast pace and high standards, and you use engineering to eliminate pointless firefighting. - You want your work to stay close to users, production systems, and business outcomes.

Requirements

- A track record of independently shipping production full-stack systems without relying on constant handoffs between frontend and backend teams. - Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills; the ability to build complex React interfaces and become productive quickly in NestJS, Next.js, and an existing codebase. - Sound judgment about high-concurrency, low-latency services, including databases, caches, message queues, network calls, and system bottlenecks. - Production incident experience: you can form and test hypotheses, restore service under pressure, communicate clearly, and leave behind a useful record. - A careful approach to code that can affect money, including idempotency, edge cases, rollback plans, review, and testing. - Availability to work in North American time zones and participate in a rotation, with clear ownership while on call. - Strong written and verbal communication. You surface risks early, keep others informed, and close the loop. ### Nice to Have - Speak both mandarin and English - Experience with trading systems, market data, financial infrastructure, or other low-latency, high-reliability systems. - Familiarity with Solana, EVM, wallets, transaction signing, RPC infrastructure, DEXs, or onchain data. - Experience in a small team or early-stage company, with comfort operating under incomplete information and owning outcomes. - Ability to collaborate across time zones in both English and Chinese.
